Whether you are preparing to sell your home or you’re making improvements for you and your family, there are several easy home renovation tasks you can tackle. These remodeling projects can be completed in a weekend and are good for both novice DIYers and skilled homeowners.

1. Easy Home Renovation: Add Crown Molding

When choosing easy home updates, adding crown molding may not be at the top of your list since this remodel requires tools, lumber, and careful installation. Today, there are crown molding options made out of sturdy foam and plastic. These trims are less expensive than traditional wood and the materials are easier to work with. Depending on the type you purchase, you can either glue or tape them to the wall, and most brands can be painted.

Use crown molding where the wall meets the ceiling and paint it a color that contrasts with the walls. You can also create a high-end look by framing interior windows and doors. To update a bathroom, cut crown molding to frame your wall mirror and install it using a strong adhesive.

2. Update a Ceiling Fan

An old ceiling fan makes a room feel outdated, but this is an easy home renovation to complete that doesn’t require a new fixture. Remove the blades and paint them. If the blades are broken or warped, you’ll need to purchase new ones. Measure the existing blades before going shopping because they come in various sizes. If the ceiling fan also has lights, replace the globes with new glass covers.

3. Paint the Front Door for an Easy Home Renovation Project

A clean and tidy front porch adds significant curb appeal to a house. If you are preparing your home for sale, this is especially important because the entryway is one of the first things a buyer notices.

Declutter the front porch and paint or refinish the front door. While you don’t have to remove the door from the hinges, it will make the project easier. Carefully lay down painter’s cloth beneath the area you will be working in and tape off the hinges, doorknob, and peephole. Select a bright or bold color to make the door stand out and freshen up your entry.

While you are working on the front entrance, replace the welcome mat and rug if they are worn or tattered. Clean exterior lighting fixtures and change burned-out bulbs. To give the door a modern feel, replace the doorknob with a keypad or smart locks.

4. Make Improvements with Window Coverings

Changing window coverings is a simple way to update a room. To make the space feel taller, hang a curtain rod high above the window frame and within a few inches of the ceiling. Purchase drapes that are long enough to reach the floor. This creates the illusion of elongated walls, making the room seem taller.

The bathtub is a great place to clean your miniblinds. Soak them in warm water and rinse them well. Hang the blinds outside to dry. It is possible to clean them while they are still installed by using a microfiber cloth and cleaning solution. Place a towel on the window seal because it can be a messy job. It may take a little longer to clean them this way, but it is still effective.

While cleaning the blinds and replacing the curtains, take the time to wash the windows. The clean glass allows more light through and brightens the interior of your home.
